Wow, the "pregame" show for the White House Correspondents Dinner is unbelievably lame. 3 women, 1 man. The man makes that fact all about him. ("I'm proud to be here to represent diversity." Then they're reporting on the amount of traffic they're getting from celebrity links. Painful.
There's gotta be a Photos update coming, right? It's nearly useless to me. I can't find shit. I have no idea what this is that is trying to pass for organization. Photos show in the stupid, teensy Year view, but I can't get to them. And OS X continues to misbehave. Mail and calendar are FUBAR. I've never regretted being an early adopter more than I have with this update. OK, and maybe the Pebble, too.
I've really missed @sullydish since he stopped blogging. I disagreed with him as frequently as I agreed, but he was a sane, reasonable voice in a sea of knee-jerk reactions. He presented dissenting and varying views from readers, and responded with arguments fairly and kindly.
George RR Martin's most recent post about the whole Hugos debacle reminded me of what I miss about Andrew Sullivan. I agree with George's overall assessment of this clusterfuck. I disagree with several of his conclusions about the specific issues within the mess. But damn if he isn't reasonable, and damn if he doesn't give me a glimmer of hope that we get can past it all as a reasonable group of human beings.
Because we're better than that, aren't we?
Anyone else having trouble with Apple Mail since the last OS update? Tons of my mail has been getting dumped into the junk folder. I turned off junk mail filtering entirely, and it's still happening :(
I have to admit, because of my own biases, if I saw this guy I would make all kinds of assumptions. I'd never in a million years expect to hear these words from him. That would be really unfortunate, because he's awesome. "Think outside the fuckin' white box!"
If you want to open a photo from OS X Photos in an external image editor, you have to export it and save it to your desktop first. And now that I've migrated my library to iCloud, I can't open my library in iPhoto. WTF? I'm having serious Early Adopter Regret. :(
I'm getting pretty fucking tired of the last half of the evening shows on MSNBC turning into a series of commercials interrupted by bits of actual programming. Even timeshifting doesn't eliminate the annoyance.
